Warranty Policy
Damaged Items & Warranty
Every Mogano piece is covered by a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase against manufacturing defects and tarnishing (when it's cared for per our Jewelry Care guidelines). We make everything to last, and if something isn't right, we want to make it right!
What Counts as a Manufacturing Defect
A manufacturing defect is an issue with how the piece was made — not damage from everyday wear, accidents, or exposure. Here's what we cover:
-
Clasp defects: clasps that won't close, springs that fail, or lobster claws that come apart with normal use.
-
Chain defects: open or poorly-soldered links, links that pull apart without force, or chains that break along a solder joint within the first year.
-
Stone-setting defects: a stone that falls out of its setting due to faulty prongs, bezels, or glue (not damage from impact).
-
Plating or finish defects: uneven plating, bubbling, peeling, or flaking of gold that happens when the piece is worn as directed. A little light tarnish is totally normal and can usually be polished — we're talking about premature, heavy, or patchy tarnishing.
-
Tarnishing: any excessive tarnishing within the first year on pieces that have been cared for per our Jewelry Care guide. A little light tarnish on sterling silver is totally normal and can usually be polished off — we're talking about premature, heavy, or patchy tarnishing.
-
Backing defects: earring backs (butterfly, screw, or locking backs) that fail mechanically.
-
Structural defects: pieces that arrive or develop cracks, warping, or bending along a seam, weld, or joint under normal wear.
-
Missing components: a piece delivered missing a stone, charm, jump ring, or clasp that was part of the original design.
What's Not Covered
Just so you know what to expect — the warranty doesn't cover:
-
General wear and tear (scratches, scuffs, light surface oxidation, stretched cable chains — a little character from everyday wear!).
-
Damage from pulling, snagging, dropping, bending, or impact.
-
Damage from exposure to water, chemicals, perfume, lotion, chlorine, saltwater, sweat, or household cleaners.
-
Loss, theft, or items damaged beyond repair.
-
Sizing adjustments outside of a manufacturing defect.
-
Tarnish on pieces stored improperly (e.g., in humid environments, outside the original pouch, or mixed in with other metals).
Permanent Jewelry
Our permanent jewelry is welded on and designed to be worn 24/7 — through every shower, workout, and spontaneous dance party. Because it's a custom, in-person service, it's not eligible for refund or exchange. But we stand behind every single weld, and we've got your back with the guarantees below. Just a heads up — proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation) is required for all permanent jewelry repairs and replacements!
Free Repairs & Replacements — within 1 year of purchase
If your permanent jewelry breaks or is damaged due to a manufacturing defect within one year of your original welding date, just come back in and we'll repair or replace it at no cost — no stress! Both repairs and replacements fall under the same one-year window, and we'll need your proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation) to get you sorted.
What's Included
-
Free re-welds and repairs for broken welds, separated links, bent clasps, or compromised solder joints.
-
Free chain replacements on sterling silver and gold-filled permanent chains that are damaged beyond repair.
-
Clasp re-attachment and chain re-sizing when the original weld has failed.
A Few Things to Know About Replacements
-
Replacements apply only to sterling silver and gold-filled chains.
-
Solid gold chains aren't included in the free replacement program. Solid gold is covered for free repairs only; if a solid gold chain is damaged beyond repair, we can quote a paid replacement for you.
-
Charms aren't included in the replacement program, but they are covered for repairs!
-
One chain replacement per piece within the one-year window.
-
Replacements are the same metal as the original — we can't guarantee we will have the same style as your original in stock!
What Counts as a Manufacturing Defect
Here's what we consider a manufacturing defect on permanent jewelry — if you see any of these within the year, come on in and we'll take care of you!
-
Weld failure: the original weld comes apart without any visible external damage or force.
-
Poorly-soldered or open links that separate under normal wear.
-
Clasp or jump ring defects on pieces that include them (springs failing, clasps not closing).
-
Plating or finish defects on gold-filled chains: premature or excessive peeling, flaking, or tarnishing of the gold layer when worn as directed and when the piece has been cared for per our Jewelry Care guidelines (a little bit of light surface tarnish is totally normal).
-
Premature or excessive tarnishing on sterling silver within the first year when the piece has been cared for per our Jewelry Care guidelines (a little bit of light surface tarnish is totally normal).
-
Structural defects along a seam or weld point, including chains that crack, warp, or bend without impact.
-
Missing links, stones, or components that were part of your piece at the time of welding.
What's Not Covered
We want to be upfront so there are no surprises — here's what unfortunately falls outside the coverage:
-
Damage from pulling, snagging, dropping, or catching the chain on clothing, sports equipment, or other jewelry.
-
Loss or theft.
-
Damage caused by chemicals (heavy mineral water, hot springs, excessive salt water, cleaning products or other harsh chemicals).
-
Charms of any kind — covered chains don't include replacement of attached charms.
-
Solid gold chain replacements (solid gold is eligible for free repairs only).
-
Repairs or replacements requested after the one-year window has ended (we're happy to quote a paid repair anytime!).
-
Requests submitted without proof of purchase or a receipt.
How to Submit a Warranty Claim
-
Send us an email at info@shopmogano.com with your order number and a few clear photos of the issue from different angles.
-
We'll get back to you within 1–3 business days — promise!
-
Approved claims are resolved by repair, replacement, or store credit at Mogano's discretion.
-
If we can't fully assess the damage from your photos, we may ask you to ship the piece in so we can take a closer look. If photos aren't available, Mogano reserves the right to deny the warranty claim.
Jewelry Care (Keep Your Pieces Looking Brand New!)
A little TLC goes a long way — here are our top tips to keep your pieces shining and your warranty in good standing:
-
Take jewelry off before showering, swimming, exercising, sleeping, or putting on lotion, perfume, or sunscreen.
-
Store your pieces in the original Mogano pouch or a jewelry case, in a dry spot.
-
Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth or gently wash with warm water & gentle soap. Dry thoroughly.
-
Avoid pulling, tugging, or sleeping in delicate chains.
